The World's Best Beaches

The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and nearby Hapuna Prince Hotel are situated on the Island's two most beautiful tropical beaches, ideal for surfing, snorkeling, windsurfing, etc. Daytime weather ranges from the mid-seventies to mid-eighties and average rainfall is only a total of ten to fifteen inches a year. Built by Laurence Rockefeller as the premier 'Rock Resort,' Mauna Kea is consistently rated among America's Top Resorts in consumer surveys by Conde Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure and Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report.

Legendary Golf

The Mauna Kea golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., remains the standard by which all other island courses are judged. This legendary masterpiece offers golfers the perfect challenge to match their level of play. Covering 230 acres of beautiful landscape, the 18-hole, 72-par championship course presents dramatic changes in elevation, large undulating greens, and 120 well-placed bunkers. There are incredible panoramic sweeps of sea and land, featuring snow-capped Mauna Kea, rugged lava beds, and the sparkling blue Pacific. One of the most spectacular features is the famous Third Hole - where surging inlet water races to meet the rocky shoreline, affording one of the most breathtaking views in golf today.

A World of Privileges Right At Your Doorstep

You will have access to all of the privileges that the Mauna Kea Resort has to offer.

Two breathtaking white-sand beaches. Two of Hawaii’s finest golf courses. And the elegant amenities of two luxurious resorts…Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.

With the resort’s long-standing tradition for exquisite service, you’ll find yourself basking in a world of exclusivity and grandeur.

Preserving Art & History

The resort is dedicated to preserving every aspect of Hawaii’ history and culture. At Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, you’ll find an extraordinary collection of over 1,600 art works of Asian and Oceanic cultures. Laurance S. Rockefeller assembled the collection while designing and building the hotel. The collection provides an opportunity to study and appreciate the rich Asian and Pacific culture.

The rugged and dramatic South Kohala coastline remains alive with the natural beauty and splendor of Hawaii. Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel was built at the site ancient Hawaiians called “Hapuna” or “the spring that gives forth life,” where natural artesian springs were once a source of renewal to weary travelers.
